As a real estate owner you are a target. Property and mortgage fraud is rare but growing. It has happened here in our own community. When a criminal files fraudulent documents claiming ownership of your home, that can enable the fraudster to borrow thousands of dollars against your home or other real estate. The Montgomery County Recorder's Office offered a Fraud Alert Notification System for all property owners within Montgomery County to help combat this financial fraud. Montgomery County Auditor Brandon McClain demonstrated how to sign up for the program.
